Ford transit 2018 spied showing off facelift
New transit was seen during a test drive in extreme weather conditions in Scandinavia. The car was updated in 2014 previously and after three years it is getting ready to hit the market again with new look and features. Ford transit is considered the second most famous and successful van in Europe after Volkswagen T6. This van will be open for orders later this year following the delivery in the start of next year.
The transit line up
The manufacturer has declared the delivery of two options in the future release.
The upcoming edition will be available in following variants: Transit and Transit Connect which will be out with XL and XLT passenger vans. These panel vans are very popular in the United States. In addition to these two vans, presently two more versions are part of this family in Europe namely Transit Courier and the Transit Custom.
Engine specs
The engine is supposed to have a better fuel efficiency and an environment friendly one. Transit comes with a 2.0-liter TDCi revved up engine in three different power outputs mainly 105, 130, and 170 horsepower (78, 97, and 127 kilowatts). There will be visible and constructive improvement in fuel economy.
Testing phase
The van was caught going through a tough cold weather testing out in the snow somewhere in Scandinavia. A camouflaged prototype looks quite promising with a minor facelift and enhanced headlights. From the first look of it, the van has almost retained its shape and size. The company is yet to give intricate details about dimensions and design.
Interior and exterior design enhancements
The testing mule was observed with a slight facelift. The grille seems more obvious with a slight touch in design as compared to the previous model. At present, the vehicle has two types of headlights: projector xenon or halogen lamps which are standard. However, by looking at the prototype we guess LED daytime running headlights are going to make their way in the upcoming version to compliment the facelift. The exterior looks absolutely stunning because of distinguished features. The rear of the van however looks more or less the same with vertical tail lights and barn doors.
As of the interior, the infotainment system is going to get a major leap. Ford is to introduce the latest SYNC infotainment system in the vehicle. All basic functions including satellite navigation, Bluetooth, android and iOS phone connectivity and road side assistance will be included as standard. It is a bit early to say about dashboard design and if any new functions and buttons will be introduced. We are expecting some more room in the cabin for added cargo/ luggage transport. The van is to be versatile enough so that it can be used as a passenger as well as cargo van without thinking twice.
The car is going to be a safe ride by the integration of new safety features including cruise control, warning system when the driver accidently change lane, towing assistance, and hill-start assist.
