By looks 2015 Ford Transit may be a big box on the wheels but it offers a wide range of options to choose from, taking care of all of your needs
The 2015 Ford Transit 150 XLT may be regarded as one of the most versatile commercial vehicle one could ever find. You see them running down the streets as mobile dog groomer, an airport shuttle, tourist transport, people carrier, a food truck, bloodmobile, or even as the emergency vehicle.
These are just a few roles that Transit is playing, the list could go even longer than that. Does it get power from Ford Transit diesel engine or the petrol engine? We soon will find out.
Engine options?
As Transit being one of the most desirable commercial van, the efficiency and durability is quite astonishing. It doesn’t matter if you buy yourself a vehicle powered by Ford Transit diesel engine or petrol engine, buying it will always be the wisest choice that you’ve ever made.
The petrol unit is a 3.7-litre V-6 petrol E85 Flex Fuel engine that produces 275 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque.
At some point, you may feel it under powered for being such a big van but again, when it is fully loaded you’ll appreciate it.
The claimed average is 17.7 mpg on the motorway, but when it is fully loaded with passengers, it is assumed that the average will dip some numbers. This engine is mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends the power to the rear wheels. The diesel engine stats are not available yet.
It’s jaw dropping
As said earlier, the 2015 Ford Transit 150 may not appeal to many for its shape, but when you look inside the cabin, it’s just simply jaw-dropping. When these 150s leave the assembly line, their fate is already decided: some become service vans, cargo vans, empty rubber-matted rental vans and workhorse cargo vans.
The XLT is a high trim level and offers alloy wheels, Pueblo Gold Metallic paint, carpeted interior and optional Sync with My Ford touchscreen infotainment and Sat-Nav system. This all can be seen on other models too but here they are organised in an awkward manner and the response is sluggish.
Capacious and configurable
The Ford Transit 150 XLT offers a seating capacity of 11 passengers, including the driver. There is also a fair amount of space in the cargo bay too.
Thanks to the pair of hinged side doors or a sliding door, getting in and out of the vehicle is very easy. The interior can be adjusted to host shelves, racks and storage bins.
Overall, it’s a pretty good deal and if you own a business, it is highly recommended.
