New 1.5-litre TDCi engine and driver assist technology for the new Transit Connect
Ford says that the Transit Connect was in dire need of new diesel engines and Transit Connect workhouse has received a new engine to give the previously hard working van a new life. It is an improved 1.5-litre TDCi engine that Ford claims to be a class-leading fuel saver with the utmost fuel economy of 74.3 mpg. The value is obtained by the ECOnetic model, but it is hardly six percent of the total performance increase over the previous 1.6-litre TDCi engine.
ECOnetic version packs 100 horses
This new machine is ready to be at your service from this summer, the ECOnetic version packs 100 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. A distinct boost from hardly 70hp to and 169 lb-ft on the outgoing models. It will also have an auto-start-stop technology and active grille shutters as in the Ford Mustang as standard.
It is worth noted that Ford is not ignoring the Transit Courier vans that have a new home for the award-winning 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine that promises to return 55.4 mpg.
Tech and safety is superb
Tech and safety department has also been greatly blessed with the technologies that Ford had introduced in its cars, like Kuga and Focus.
All the technologies from Focus and Kuga cars like traffic sign recognition, blind spot information, lane keeping assistant, SYNC 2 infotainment system and auto high beam, will be available as standard in the Transit Connect.
Technological improvements to attract more customers
In addition Transit Connect customers can now enjoy power-fold mirrors with automatic operation when the vehicle is locked. All these technological improvements will help Ford to attract even more customers. Ford has also claimed that there has been a 93 percent increase recorded in demand for the Ford Transit Connect if compared to the same period of last year.
