In Las Vegas, at NBWA convention this year, a low profile, 4-bay side load body mounted on the cab and chassis of legendary Ford Transit is displayed by Hackney
What is it?
According to Dale Kuntz, one of Hackney’s sales managers, it is of almost the same size as a cargo van but what’s really special about it is that with its side doors, it provides quick and convenient access and transports more products. And it is powered by petrol and diesel engines.
“Sidekick offers a great deal of flexibility at an affordable entry price. A lot of interest for hotshot type routes, congested delivery areas, special events, or sales trucks allowing the salesman to carry more product.”
What does Sidekick offer?
Well, it offers pretty much the same features as Hackney’s other larger beverage units do. It includes adjustable bay shelving, all-aluminium construction, and rear mounted hand truck and bottom rail power step.
It doesn’t matter which version you take, the petrol or the diesel one, it is highly compatible with the both, the Ford Transit 9,950 and 10,360 GVW cab and chassis. The company has also added that over 4,000 lbs. of payload it provided by the Sidekick.
Why the Sidekick?
Why? Because with its low profile design, the Sidekick can easily locate the product lower to the ground and then can be forklift loaded for pallets.
Thanks to the side door access, the retrieval of product is now quicker than before and it also provides additional convenience when you have to manoeuvre through extremely congested areas or the alleys.
Where is it made and when will be available?
According to the company, Hackney’s Kansas and North Carolina facilities will be used to produce the Sidekick and it will be available for immediate sale.
The price for this one has not been disclosed yet. No further details have been made public.
