Ford has announced that the ECOnetic version of the Transit will make its world debut in July this year
Around 40 years ago, Ford introduced the Transit van in the UK for the first time, since 1965, Ford has sold more than 6 million Transit commercial vans in the UK and Transit itself has earned the fame and become the icon in the light commercial vehicle segment as a most successful van in its class.
Transit has more than 350 different trims that offer its customers a great versatility and flexibility to its customers around the globe.
Transit Evolution
Transit has continued its model evolution and keep the trends up in the industry with the introduction of Transit ECOnetic variant in the range, planned to be introduced in July this year.
What is ECOnetic?
Have you heard about the performance packs offered by the German automakers on their cars? Let me help you to remind of those, BMW introduced EfficientDynamics on its majority of cars while Mercedes-Benz offered BlueEFFICIENCY. So the Transit will be given an ECOnetic technology to turn it into an ultra-fuel efficient version.
Any other model has the ECOnetic system?
Definitely yes! But if I say, Transit is the first large vehicle to get this technology, it will not be wrong because the Fiesta was the first model that was used to test the technology.
The ECOnetic was found very successful in the Fiesta model and it returned more than 65 miles per gallon, beating the Toyota Prius with around 10mpg extra. Here in Europe, focus and Mondeo are also available in ECOnetic but Ford Australia has planned to introduce the Transit with ECOnetic technology.
Transit Engine Performance
Ford Transit ECOnetic van will make use of the existing 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel engine. It also coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.
It has an elegant fuel economy of 33mpg with CO2 emissions of 189g/km. torque and power delivery options are the same as of the non-ECOnetic engines but it has fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon.
