Ford recently made an announcement that Transit Connect van and Tourneo Connect MPV are going to get extra tech and new ultra-efficient diesel engine
Various new tech features and a new diesel engine has been confirmed by Ford for its Transit Connect van and Tourneo Connect passenger. This summer, we are going to see both of these revised models make their way to the showrooms.
What are these new engines?
The range of Tourneo Connect including both versions, five and seven-seat, will receive 1.5-litre TDCI Ford Diesel Engine. It is going to replace the outgoing 1.6-litre engine, which doesn’t meet Euro 6 emissions regulation.
The Transit Connect will be getting the ‘ECOnetic’ 99bhp variant or 1.5-litre diesel, whereasTourneo will get both versions, 99 bhp and the 118 bhp. The powershift automatic gearbox is offered with 118 bhp.
What fuel economy do they offer?
As a van, Transit Connect offers combined economy of 74.3 mpg and emissions have dropped down to just 99g/km. These figures are almost six per cent better than the outgoing 1.6-litre engine. The start/stop and ECOnetic’s standard active grille shutter bring a dream to reality.
Tourneo Connect is now seven per cent more efficient and offers 65.7 mpg of combined fuel economy with 111g/km of emissions, thanks to the addition of rear seats and doors.
What are the safety techs on-board?
Both of these models feature new safety techs like the traffic sign recognition which will enable the driver to be warned of oncoming speed limit reductions or hazards. Other techs are the lane-keeping assist, blind-spot recognition, power-folding mirrors, auto headlamps, SYNC2 six-inch colour touchscreen with voice control and sat-nav.
With all these wonderful updates, we still have to wait to know the any price changes.
