The iconic van from Ford has been undergoing testing in Geelong
What is it?
At a suburban shopping centre, the facelifted and updated 2016 Ford Transit Custom van has been spied. It is said that world famous commercial van was having a mountain bike in the back and the driver was, perhaps, doing his Christmas shopping. The upgrade includes refined Ford Transit diesel engine which will gladly comply with EU emissions regulations.
How powerful is the engine?
It is believed that the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, which powers the new Ford Transit Custom, will produce similar power figures as the current engine and that is, 92kW and 350Nm of torque.
But it is also believed that the new engine will emit less CO2 so that it will comply with EU’s emissions regulations and as being more efficient, will return better fuel economy.
The possibility of Ford testing a second engine for its medium sized commercial van cannot be ruled out, it has been introduced in Australia in 2014 but it was for the European markets and was left hand drive.
Where this van has been spotted?
This globally recognized left hand drive commercial van has been spotted near Lara which is about 15 minutes from Geelong in Victoria.
The vehicle undergoing testing is expected to be released in Europe in 2016. The front grille and headlamps have received minor changes; rest of the van looks almost the same.
As soon as the driver noticed he has been photographed candidly, he quickly tried to disappear as it surely was a bad idea to go shopping on a top-secret unreleased global vehicle.
Ford Australia is proving its worth as being the integral part of Ford’s global research and development regime. Ford is doing everything to keep its lead in the global commercial and light commercial vehicle segment.
