Sixties kids had Ford Transit as their school bus, and now after so many years it’s once again ready to make school runs
Ford loves serving the kids with its specially designed school buses and Transit is the best van that always stands ahead of other makes serving the schools. It is the Blue Oval’s Micro Bird T-Series Bus. It is the latest iteration of the short bus built on the 2015 Ford Transit chassis.
It is the first time when Blue Bird and Ford Transit have come together, Ford Transit is already being used as the simple passenger van or old age homes to carry passengers.
The E-Series of Ford has the traditional role of serving the passengers then it phased out and Transit became the centre point of attention. Transit gets extra benefits including better fuel economy, enhanced flexibility and outward visibility.
The new T-Series is available in two wheel bases and ranging from nine to twenty-five passengers. It has single and dual rear wheels and it offers all three available Ford engine options in the Transit vans. However, schools can choose from 3.7-litre V6 and the 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 or there is an option of 3.2-litre which has the five-cylinder engine. It is an inline power stroke turbo diesel engine.
the entire engine range is mated to the six-speed automatic transmission with Ford’s Select Shift and tow/haul mode.
An option of CNG or propane fuel is also available that schools can select, recently Transit has introduced the Biofuel technology as a cleaner option. For those schools taking the diesel route, 3.2-litre B-20 is very capable and runs on a 20 percent mix of bio diesel. Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant will produce the T-Series Transits.
These buses will come with heavy-duty alternators, dual batteries, an auxiliary fuse panels with HVAC package. It is not confirm that it will be available in Europe in the future.
