Ford Transit 2015 has arrived but it’s predecessors will be missed
Ford Transit is the king of vans because of real time customisability and flexibility offered with Transit. The 2015 Transit again offers three wheelbases and three roof heights. Passenger version is highly luxurious and comfortable. An exclusively new Ford Transit engine line-up will be used and a 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine is specially designed for both gas and diesel use.
In the past decade, automotive technology has advanced a lot. The 2015 Ford Transit uses a 3.7 litre V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission, however the output is stated at 266 horsepower and a 249 lb-ft of torque. These power stats are lower than usual for this engine. The new Transit offers an optional 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine which is slightly down in power. Its projected output is 320hp and 400 lb-ft.
A 3.2 litre 5-cylinder turbo-diesel engine offers massive torque from very low rpm and has a lowest fuel consumption. Its projected output is 190hp with 346 lb-ft of torque.
In the U.S market, Ford offers Transit in a rear-wheel drive configurations. Other features include Crew Chief commercial telematics, cruise control system, power front seats, leather upholstery, digital rear view with the help of camera, trailer hitch assist, rear parking sensors and keyless entry pad. Infotainment features also include satellite radio, the most advanced and latest SYNC System with voice command, MyFord Touch infotainment system and navigation system. You can control all of these from steering wheel mounted controls.
If you are inspired by a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, just remember that it is too expensive, offers low brute force and most importantly Sprinter cannot match the Transit EcoBoost. There is no diesel options in Sprinter but Transit has diesel options with Bi-fuel system. It runs on diesel and CNG both on the same engine.
